SM 450 and 510 engines now have electronic injection developed in collaboration with Mikuni. This includes a Mikuni "return-less" fuel injection system with 42-millimeter throttle body. New ECM - new management software. New Kokusan alternator unit. Although the new SM 450 and 510 come with electric starters, a kick start mechanism is available as an optional extra. Both engines have been renovated to provide improved reliability and they now include items such the new valve-lifting system, new chain tensioners and clutch units. The new oil filter unit is housed in the right engine shield and has an oil level inspection port. The new exhaust systems now run along the left side. Engine looks too have changed. The blocks are matte black while the cylinders and heads are aluminum colored. The rocker boxes are racing red.
